The Introduction to Tibetan External Therapies workshop offers an overview of the variety of external therapy methods of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, including their history, transmission, cosmology, and approach, as well as indications and applications.

Course of Study in Tibetan External Therapies

Overview

The course of study in Tibetan External Therapies comprises three levels, and is completed after a final examination and the presentation and acceptance of a thesis.

The course of study in Tibetan External Therapies is intended for any interested person regardless of professional background.

Prerequisites

The course of study is open to everyone. Students without a medical background are advised to engage in a self-study of modern medical anatomy and physiology prior to attending TTh 1.1: Basic Ku Nye Massage.

Certification

Graduates who complete all three levels are certified with a Sorig Khang International Diploma in Tibetan External Therapies.

Curriculum

The course of study in Tibetan External Therapies consists of three levels with two blocks each. The course’s 180 teaching hours are split into blocks of five days of 30 teaching hours. Teaching hours are complemented by intensive practicals and home studies. The course of study is completed after the presentation and acceptance of a thesis. Additional courses include the optional TTh modules and certain optional TTM modules as well as study tours to origin countries of Traditional Tibetan Medicine.

The course of study in Tibetan External Therapies can also be combined with the course of study in Traditional Tibetan Medicine.

A medical study tour in Tibet is available to interested students. To participate, it is recommended (though not mandatory) to have some clinical experience from levels 1–3 of the Tibetan External Therapies curriculum.
